Tornado of Terror by shuu-washuu Sister piece [ha ha ha] to the Tornado one

Fubuki, second strongest ESPer, and younger sister of Tatsumaki! I thought her hair will be easier, then they started dancing in the air and... huh. Tried slightly different technique of monochrome for this one, while still trying to keep them linked. I wanted to make something less about a force current, and more melancholic? IDK That's what it looks like in the end I guess.

I really like this piece a lot. I've seen your work with full colored/rendered pieces, and maybe it's just my preferred aesthetic and gravitation towards linework/brushwork, but I really love your recent pieces that are just black and white compared to full color. I'm not saying one technique is better than the other, but I feel more emotion, more fluidity with your more recent pieces. There's an overabundance of rendered color digital artwork, so beautiful linework and using black and white values makes really stands out to me.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is that this doesn't really seem like Fubuki to me? I read all of the manga and webcomic and watched the show, she's a very emotional person, possibly overly-exaggerating in a lot of situations depending on the context. Here she seems very serene and calm, someone who can take control of the situation and can assess what's going on, when in reality I think she's very reactionary and impulsive, though not nearly as much as Tatsumaki.

As far as the technique, like I mentioned before I really love how it's rendered. I think the "3D" effect with the green and pink adds motion to the feathers, showing her powers, that she's manipulating things around her and it's not just a windy day. I will agree with the other commentor that her near arm seems a bit flat and it's hard to determine what kind of material it is. Is it a ribbed sweater? Something metallic or shiny? I think when it comes to fabric and clothing, really making sure the viewer understands what kind of texture something is important, especially when it's in the very foreground of the piece. I like that it's not a flat texture like her normal black dress, though how it's handed could be more clear.

I think her nose could use a bit more definition. I've noticed a distinct lack of nose shading by a lot of artists on female subjects, I guess that's to show a more feminine/cute button nose? Male noses are more defined and would have heavier shadow, but here her nostril gets pretty lost and flat, so a little more shading under the nose and around the nostril could help give it some depth. I think proportions are nice, shading on the lips is nice, maybe darken up the inner parts of the ear just a bit as well as under the chin/neck since there's usually a heavy cast shadow right under the chin, even if the light source here is ambiguous.

Ok shit I wrote a lot. I love giving advice to help people improve, just how I like getting constrictive criticism. I really love what you've been doing with your drawings recently, best of luck, keep it up <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>
